ABOUT THE CREATORS
Professional artist and Yogini, Kim Michelle is the Freedom-Flower~Creative Queen behind Kim Michelle Art. Growing up on Cape Cod, MA she was surrounded by a thriving art community and was encouraged from a young age to pursue her love of art. She earned a BFA from Mass College of Art and Design with a concentration in Printmaking. Before entering motherhood in 2016 she travelled and lived abroad for over 10 years, studying yoga and making art. Most of those years were spent in the jungle of Costa Rica, which continues to inspire her work today. KM currently lives in Tarpon Springs, FL where the sun keeps the bright, light and bold colors flowing across her canvas. When she’s not painting she loves to dance, practice yoga, go to the beach and have fun with her daughter in creative ways.
Kim Michelle’s work is full of color and movement, pattern and power. Her work inspires the viewer to enter a new world where they may become free of limiting beliefs, holding patterns and outdated structures. She obliterates the boundaries and layers pattern over pattern into abstraction. This reflects her nature to explore and discover what gems are to be found in the created space.
This Fire Goddess learns how to control the passions of her heart with grace and ease. She uses fire as a tool to help burn away what does not serve her highest good. Her explosive and reactive nature has matured into being able to play with fire and work with it constructively.
This painting was inspired by my fellow firey friends who taught me how to let the flame within my heart burn steady and long; how to keep the fire stoked; and how to manage life in steadiness and ease without burning bridges and destroying things with that “Kali” and “Pele” energy that is beyond destructive. This understanding came in grace at a perfect moment when I was exceptionally ready to understand this possibility. I was able to handle a challenging situation with more dynamism and not lose myself in the process.
