This Ganesh was commissioned by a close friend and dedicated collector of my work. He is a man of deep integrity, truth, fearlessness, passion, and inspiration. He is one of the most spiritual human beings I know. I hold so much respect for his work with plant medicine and his gift as a musician. The spirit that shines through him is bright and it is my prayer that this Golden Ganesh who resonates the gold frequency goes before him and everyone who sees this painting and turns everything before him/her into gold. 

Ganesh is the Hindu elephant god of obstacles. It is said that he has the power to remove or place obstacle in your path and if you pray to him he will help guide you along your journey. He is a popular god in yoga as it is the yogi's goal to clear and remove obstructions in the body, mind and heart. I have a deep love for the qualities of Ganesh as he helps me be able to surrender my practice to a higher power and thus I am able to trust and let go of all that no longer serves my highest good, even though I may not know what those things are. One of my favorite yogic practices is japa mala where you repeat a mantra (traditionally) 108 times on a beaded necklace, similar to doing the rosary in Catholicism. Ganesh's mantra is "OM GAM GANAPATAYE NAMAHA" This was the first sanskrit mantra I learned and I cherish my teacher who blessed me with this practice.
