Goddess of Love and Relationships
Hindu Goddess Parvati is the Wife of Shiva, God of Destruction. I was inspired by their story to create this painting. Here is the story:
Once when the world, in grave danger, was in great need of Shiva’s power he stay meditating on Mount Kailash unavailable to anyone’s pleas. After the Gods had exhausted their efforts, their last resort was to bring Parvati, a beautiful young (human) princess to seduce him into waking. At this she failed. In her despair she decided to renounce the world as she was truly in love with Shiva and without him there was no purpose to go on with her life. She went to a mountain in South India and sat in meditation for many years. Out of her austere practice arose Shakti, the divine feminine power of the Universe. This radiant boundless love finally awoke Shiva out of his Meditation. He came to her and their union symbolized the true meaning of Yoga, to yoke, and the meaning of Hatha yoga, the uniting of opposites.
Hail Parvati, Mother – Sister – Friend – Self, Oh help me now,To become my Self in full! To balance my polarities,To find my Lover inside. To commit to myself in knowing myself,To stay inward, to be able to extend and expand outward at the same time holding true to me, the center of my being, connected to Mama Gaia, to live out my soul purpose,To be the greatest mother I can be.
To find my loving partner and to love him unbounded. To see everyone as my teacher and me, theirs. To know its all a great lesson! On a journey, endless and free! To make it as I will. To wish it into existence! To give as much as I can as my open heart feels vulnerable and unsafe, please help me to keep flowing forth with your love and light, always securely knowing that I AM SAFE, I AM LIGHT, I AM LOVE. Dear beautiful Goddess of LOVE,
Let me know the edge is not a place to be afraid that I will fall.
Let me create the edges as I go forth with every breath, fearlessly, forever and ever.
Amen OM Shanti
